When two homes become one

First enquiry

Richard first came across House & Carriage back in 2019 when he was looking to move out of the local area. “I had seen your vans and wanted to use someone local,” said Richard. Having then chosen us to look after him, the removal took place in the October of that year.

Quotations booked!

When the time came for Richard and his partner, Teresa, to set up a new home together, discussions took place on which removal firm to speak to. Due to there being a fair distance between the different locations of their current properties, it could have been a challenge to find just one company. “I had such a good first experience with (House & Carriage), why would I go anywhere else?” said Richard. Appointments were gladly made with the office team, and it was arranged that our Tom would visit both properties in question on the same day. This allowed quotations to be provided in a timely manner. This quite complex move was discussed in detail during the meeting, Richard said afterward, “Tom was so professional. I had total confidence in him, and we were in good hands”.

Selling two homes and moving into one was never going to be completely straight forward. Teresa’s home was due to complete first, this always meant that a certain amount of storage would be involved, until their new home was ready. This was carried out as planned in March without a hitch.

A delay!

However, the completion on their new property was delayed. This led to the couple needing to quickly change their plans and placing Richard’s home into store also. As well as renting a local Airbnb for two months.

Due to this unexpected turn of events, Richard opted for the packing service. Richard wanted to ensure that his possessions were correctly and safely packed away for the duration of the storage. Richard noted that “Your packing helped us tremendously”. Richard’s home was a 200-year-old listed building with tight access and a narrow staircase, which can be tricky to navigate with both furniture and boxes. “It was great that two of the same boys that moved me before came as they had delivered it all to the house”. Our boys are like elephants and never forgot a client’s previous move, and by using members from the same team as in 2019, it gave us the continuity to help with the tricky logistics of the period property.

Settling down near the Forest of Dean

When the time finally came for Richard & Teresa to move into their beautiful new home near the Forest of Dean, a plan was put in place for the delivery of both sets of storage. So as not to overwhelm them, it was decided that Teresa’s items would be delivered first. Then the following week the team would return to Gloucestershire to deliver Richard’s possessions. This gave them the opportunity for the couple to unpack and have everything in order, and also time for a bit of a rest! Again, members from the previous teams were chosen to move everything out of store. Richard said of the team, “They were all great, they clearly get on well together and work well together”. Something that we take great pride in

Once the final delivery was made, Richard and Teresa could then at last concentrate on making their home together. We were very happy to have been a part of this.
