When Caroline Farrar wanted to relocate to Bolton, Lancashire from her home in Ascott-under-Wychwood, she chose Oxfordshire-based removals company House & Carriage to help.
In the past, Caroline had only hired vans for DIY removals. However, as the years had passed she had amassed a great deal of delicate and unwieldy items that required extra care and a much larger van.
The perfect removals solution
The journey to Bolton was a long three-hour drive. Caroline was concerned that it would be difficult to pack everything up from her two bed cottage and move it to her new three bed detached house in the north of England in just one day.
Tom from House & Carriage had the perfect solution: a move that spanned two days. The team would collect everything in the truck on the Monday and deliver it to its new home the next morning. No other removals company Caroline contacted had offered this innovative approach.
Taking extra care
Caroline took most of the packing of smaller items on by herself. She visited the House & Carriage offices in Charlbury, Oxfordshire. Where they made it easy for her to get all the materials she needed, such as bubble wrap and boxes. They even helped take them to her car.
When it came to the bigger items, Caroline asked the Oxfordshire removals service to shoulder the burden. House & Carriage carefully wrapped and packed several large, breakable pieces into the van. This included a 7ft tall mirror, big picture frames and a glass dining table. As well as helping to take some other items of furniture apart.
Prompt, clean and tidy
The House & Carriage team were up bright and early on both move days. Arriving at Caroline’s new house at 9am, giving her a whole day to unpack and get things sorted. They stayed until everything was where it should be, and all the furniture taken apart for the move was put back together.
According to Caroline, House & Carriage had thought of everything. Even ensuring they didn’t track in dirt from outside (it rained on both days). They used a special sticky floor covering that kept the carpets from getting wet and muddy, and when pulled up, the carpets looked like new.
Professional and friendly
From conversations with the staff in the office, to her initial hour long home consultation with Tom, through to the removals team arriving at her new house; all of Caroline’s dealings with House & Carriage were always professional and friendly. Caroline established a good rapport with Tom and the team. They made sure that all her moving needs were addressed and her fears at such a big personal move were allayed.
Reasonably priced
The price that House & Carriage quoted wasn’t as cheap as other removals companies, but for two days’ work and all the little extras they offered, Caroline thought it seemed extremely reasonable. She says: “The team really cared that I was getting a good service and did everything to prove that I was achieving value for my money.”
A 10/10 removals service
When asked about her overall experience of House & Carriage, Caroline has nothing but praise for the Oxfordshire removals company, saying:
“House & Carriage were accommodating, patient and flexible. The team was very efficient and I felt that they were genuinely there to help me. I would give them 10/10 – I am very pleased. I couldn’t fault them, they were better than I expected.”
