Belinda Matthews has been using House and Carriage since 2009, for moving all around Oxfordshire. When the time came to choose a company for her latest move to Suffolk in October 2014, she instantly picked up the phone to the “lovely guys at House and Carriage”.
Friendly faces
Belinda has got to know and like House and Carriage well, even giving a few of the team a hug when she left Oxfordshire. Their supportive, professional and personable manner has put her at ease during her past dealings with them as they have always gone ‘above and beyond’ when helping her move. She says, “whatever is thrown at the team they remain good natured and cheerful throughout – even if it is raining hard, they still turn up at your door with smiles on their faces”.
A staggering service
The latest move was unusual. Belinda wanted to stagger the removals process, asking the team to pick her belongings up over a couple of days. This gave her flexibility with packing and sending items either to her new home or into House and Carriage’s temporary self-storage units in Oxfordshire. As anyone who has packed up an entire house can testify, it can be incredibly stressful, and in a small house, the packing materials and sealed up boxes can start to take up a lot of room. By allowing Belinda several different slots and adopting an unhurried approach, House and Carriage made it possible for her to pack at leisure. As a result the whole move became far easier for Belinda and her son to manage.
Bespoke services
From the time of Belinda booking House and Carriage to the big move itself, the team provided a very friendly and courteous service. Belinda has had experiences with other movers in the past and they offered a very different approach compared to House and Carriage – “it’s more impersonal, like ticking boxes and making deliveries rather than feeling very niche, personal to you and bespoke to your needs”. House and Carriage has even gone that extra mile, helping Belinda to pack up the larger pieces and even sawing a bed frame in half and purchasing bolts the other end to fit it back together! “They work like hell; bending over backwards to help you out. Nothing is too much trouble for them,” says Belinda.
A team to trust
Belinda feels that she can happily put her whole move into the hands of House and Carriage because she knows they’ll sort out every little detail. “They’re so good at organising everything; liaising with the local removals teams at the Suffolk-end and taking the hassle out of the whole move,” she says. House and Carriage prides itself on ensuring great relations with local movers, whether you’re moving to another county or to another country.
A great big hug
Belinda likens House and Carriage’s services to getting “a great a big hug – you feel completely covered and safe,” and that having a more personal, professional and friendly approach to the stressful process of moving “means the world to me”.
