We’re also proud to have maintained our membership with the British Association of Removers (BAR), reflecting our commitment to providing a professional, reliable and high-quality removals service.
Whether you’re moving across town or further afield, a little preparation can make a big difference. Here are our top tips for making moving day as straightforward as possible:
Book your removals company early
As soon as your house goes on the market, it’s worth getting in touch with your removals company and arranging a quote. The housing market can move quickly, and popular moving dates can get booked up, particularly during busy periods.
Getting your removals company booked in early gives you one less thing to worry about and helps ensure your preferred moving date is available.
And don’t forget communication. We understand that moving home isn’t always straightforward, and plans can change. Our office team are always on hand to discuss your options; answer questions and help you plan the best approach for your move. Good communication can make the whole process feel much less stressful.
Declutter before you pack
Moving home is the perfect opportunity to have a clear-out and this is one area where it pays to be ruthless!
There’s little point spending time and money packing, transporting and unpacking things you no longer need. If you haven’t used something in a long time, ask yourself whether it really needs to come with you.
You’ll thank yourself when you reach the other end and have fewer boxes to unpack!
Use good-quality removal boxes
Whether you’re doing your own packing or using our professional packing service, good-quality removal boxes are essential for protecting your belongings during the move.
Proper removal boxes are designed to be strong, stackable and suitable for transporting household items safely. We supply high-quality packing materials and always recommend using professional-grade boxes rather than supermarket or old cardboard boxes, which may not offer the same level of protection.
Pack an essentials box
Don’t pack everything away! Put together a box or two of essentials that you’ll need as soon as you arrive at your new home.
Think tea and coffee, mugs, snacks, toilet roll, toiletries, a change of clothes and your toothbrush. You might also want to include phone chargers, medication and anything else you’ll need for the first night.
Keep important keys, documents and essential tools somewhere safe and easily accessible too. You don’t want to be searching through boxes for the kettle — or the new front-door key
Make moving day easy for the removals team
Before our team arrives, make sure entrances, hallways, stairways and corners are as clear as possible. This gives our team plenty of room to move furniture and boxes safely and efficiently through the property.
Once we arrive, our experienced removals team will be happy to get on with the job and take the strain off you.
And, of course, plenty of tea and biscuits never goes amiss!
